Celebrating Tim’s Three-Year Milestone

For three years, Tim has been an important part of Barossa Valley Golf Club. His experience shows how inclusive employment can benefit both individuals and workplaces.

Tim recently marked his third year at the club. He is now a familiar face and a respected member of the community. His story shows how inclusive workplaces can offer meaningful jobs and help people build confidence, connections, and lasting success.

Creating an Inclusive Workplace at Barossa Valley Golf Club

Inclusive employment means recognising people’s strengths, creating opportunities, and making sure employees feel welcome, supported, and valued at work.

Barossa Valley Golf Club has incorporated these principles through employing Tim as an integral part of the team. His role supports the course’s daily operations while helping him develop skills, experience, and workplace relationships.

The club has built a workplace based on teamwork, respect, and inclusion. This shows how businesses can achieve great results by hiring people with disabilities and using inclusive practices. Tim’s daily work on the golf course is a good example of this approach.

Tim’s Role at the Golf Course

Tim’s main responsibilities involve collecting golf balls from the driving range and surrounding scrub areas using a “gator” fitted with a ball collection device. After being collected, the balls are washed and prepared for reuse in the driving range machine.

In addition to this, Tim assists with:

  • Bunker and course maintenance alongside Greenkeepers and volunteers
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of golf buggies
  • Supporting the presentation of areas in and around the clubhouse

Tim takes pride in his work and plays an important role in helping the golf course operate smoothly each day.

More Than Employment: Building Connection and Confidence

A key part of inclusive employment is the sense of belonging it brings.

Over the past three years, Tim has become popular with members, staff and volunteers across the golf club. The workplace has grown into more than just a job; it is a community where he feels connected, respected and included.

While working at the club, Tim has also grown to love golf. He now plays often and enjoys being part of the club’s culture both at work and in his free time.

Tim Scores a Hole in One

While playing the 15th hole at Barossa Valley Golf Club, Tim hit a tee shot and scored a hole in one, a rare achievement for any golfer. His name will be added to the club’s “Hole in One” board, and he will receive a trophy to remember the moment. It is a fantastic achievement and one that has been celebrated by the entire club community.

Why Inclusive Employment Matters

Tim’s story is a great example of how inclusive employment can make a difference when employers create opportunities and see the value people with disabilities bring to the workplace.

Inclusive workplaces strengthen teams, connect communities, and provide opportunities for people to develop skills, confidence, and independence.

Barossa Valley Golf Club’s commitment to inclusion demonstrates how businesses can create workplaces where people feel respected, supported and able to succeed.

Congratulations to Tim on three successful years with the club and on an impressive golfing achievement.

Thank you to Barossa Valley Golf Club for continuing to support inclusive employment opportunities in the community. For those interested in similar initiatives, there are ways to get involved and find support.
