Ling receives a gold watch from Joe and Antonetta Quinzi in recognition of 25 years of service at Quinzi’s Confectionery.
Ling joined Quinzi’s Confectionery in 1998. Over the past 28 years, he has become a key member of the team that makes the business’s popular sugared almonds, developing strong skills and deep knowledge in his work.
Making the almonds
Ling is central to making Quinzi’s sugared almonds. He washes and toasts the almonds, then coats them in sugar or chocolate, depending on the type, and finishes the process.
This craft is central to Quinzi’s business. Its roots go back to 1974, when founder Emidio Quinzi went to Italy to learn how to make confectionery.
Packing, cleaning and a favourite chocolate
Ling does more than make almonds. He also weighs and packs chocolates and helps keep the factory clean. As a small business, Quinzi’s relies on a team that can work across different parts of the operation, and Ling plays an important role across the business. When asked what he likes most about his job, Ling says packing is his favourite task. His top chocolate? The liquorice log.
A strong working relationship
For nearly thirty years, Ling has built a strong relationship with his employers, Joe and Antonetta Quinzi. Their connection goes beyond work, as Ling and Joe travel to and from work together. In 2023, Joe and Antonetta recognised Ling’s 25 years of service by presenting him with a gold watch.

Ling first connected with Quinzi’s in 1998, when Barkuma job coordinator Adam introduced him to Joe. Today, Barkuma job coordinator Lee Leibelt supports Ling and regularly checks in with him and the Quinzi’s team. Lee offers help when needed, listens to concerns, and finds training opportunities.
After 28 years, Ling is still an important part of the Quinzi’s team. His long working relationship is built on trust, shared knowledge, and the chance to contribute.
