The Support and Family Education (SAFE) program began in 2006 as a joint initiative between Disability SA and Barkuma. It partners skilled workers with parents who have a cognitive impairment and children aged under 5.
The aim of SAFE is to work alongside parents to maintain and further develop their parenting skills, improving the likelihood of maintaining the family unit.
SAFE workers develop partnerships with families to support them through the developmental milestones of their children’s development.
This program operates across metropolitan and regional Adelaide.
