Barkuma operates two businesses that provide wide ranging employment and development opportunities for people with a disability. Based at Campbelltown and Elizabeth our furniture manufacturing business, Silkwood Furniture and our contract packaging business, SAPAC offer conditions that mirror the general workplace.
Employees receive wages, have set hours of work, are entitled to paid leave, superannuation and other benefits as agreed under the collective agreement. Each employee has a job description and participates in an annual appraisal during which a personal development plan is prepared or updated.

Training and Career DevelopmentBarkuma offers employees the opportunity to participate in a wide range of vocational and personal development training including accredited TAFE courses that result in nationally recognised qualifications. Barkuma is also able to assist employees who wish to move to employment in the mainstream workforce through its open employment service, Personnel Employment.
