Counselling, Advocacy & Support

Barkuma’s client services team provides one-on-one support to anyone receiving an employment service from Barkuma who is experiencing difficulties.

Fully qualified and experienced workers are able to respond to individual needs in a caring and professional manner. Some of the areas they are able to assist with include:

Counselling

personal, relationship, anger management

Legal

assisting you to sort out problems with the police or the courts

Housing

assisting you to explore housing options and plan for independent living

Finances

budgeting, negotiating debts

Health

assisting you to access services and professionals to resolve health issues

Advocacy

assisting you to communicate with services such as Centrelink

Recreation

linking you with leisure activities in your local area

Education

accessing training courses and personal development programs on your behalf.

 

The team also provides group training programs in response to the needs of clients. Some programs run by the client services team include:

  • Anger Management
  • Self Esteem
  • Friendship and Communication Skills
